We're here!

After a restless sleep and an early start we finally boarded the plane for Tokyo at 11:00am. Thanks to a store of TV shows on my phone and a good book, the flight actually went really quickly! Once we arrived at Narita Airport (Tokyo) we were amazed at just how easy and quick everything was. We managed to pass through immigration, customs, collect baggage, get some cash AND post Mike's skis to Niseko in little more than 30 minutes. We then hopped on to a luxurious train into Central Tokyo and changed trains to Ueno. It was on the second train that we got our first taste of extremely crowded carriages.

After checking into our hotel we set off to search for some dinner, which wasn't difficult! The streets are just lined with little restaurants and this was at 10:00pm! We finally settled on a little place that specialises in katsu curry (which is something we eat all the time in Australia!). Katsu is either a piece of crumbed pork, chicken or beef which is paired with rice and a rich curry sauce. This one was especially amazing because he whipped out the piece of meat, soaked it in an egg mix and rolled it in panko crumbs before our very eyes. It was so fresh and crunchy. A perfect first meal.
